DIRECTOR OF FLIGHT OPERATIONS
North Cariboo Air is one of the oldest and most respected air carriers in Western Canada. We are well known for foreseeing the needs of our customers. Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 3 years or more previous aviation management experience with a Commercial airline operator.
- Must meet Transport Canada requirements for 702/703/704/705 Operations Manager requirements.
- Must have excellent team leadership, management, communication and organizational skills.
- A Degree in Business Administration or equivalent aviation experience and education.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage the company flight operations in a safe and efficient manner as outlined in the company’s operations manual.
- Be an effective leader and team player with a goal of maintaining a high operational and service standard in the industry.
- Strong working knowledge of the CARS.
- Maintenance of a current operations library.
- Liaison with regulatory authorities on all matters concerning flight operations.
- Keeps informed of latest industry developments through effective networking and liaison with external industry and regulatory authorities.
- Manages the effective flow of information between various departments.
- Coaches, counsels, mentors and trains employees to enhance performance. Actively participates in self-development activities.
- Actively implements and supports the Safety Management System throughout the supervisory pilots and the line pilots.
- All other duties as assigned by the owners.
Salary:

Position Title: Chief Pilot 702, 703, 704
Department: Flight Operations
Base: Calgary, AB
Reports To: Director, Flight Operations
Reporting to the Director, Flight Operations, this position is responsible for the operational standards of the 702, 703, and 704 fleet and the day-to-day supervision of operating practices with the line pilot group. As a supervisor a 40 hour work week with flexible hours is expected as duties may occur outside of normal Monday to Friday work hours. Line flying in addition to on call availability is an included requirement of the position.
Qualifications:
- Previous management experience an asset.
- Must have the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with all functional divisions within the company.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Professional customer service etiquette.
- Ability to hold a Transport Canada airside security pass.
- Ability to hold a type rating on at least one type the company operates.
- Ability to hold a valid airline transport pilot licence.
- Ability to hold a valid passport permitting travel on company business.
- Valid drivers licence.
- Previous pilot experience required.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the hiring of all line pilots flying under the 702, 703, and 704 operations within the company.
- Supervises the line pilots within the company.
- Establishes and maintains a training program for the personnel reporting to them.
- Establishes criteria for the scheduling of line pilots and coordinates with the Operations Control Centre personnel to ensue appropriate coverage and utilization of personnel for the required work.
- Actively implements and supports the Safety Management System throughout the supervisory pilots and the line pilots.
- Establishes and amends the Standard Operating Procedures on the 702, 703, and 704 aircraft ensuring that they correspond with the Flight Operations Manual.
- Ensures that all accident, incident and crew flight reports are investigated and action plans implemented as required.
- Be responsive to customer issues in a proactive manner.
- All other duties as outlined in the Company Operations Manual and as assigned by the Director, Flight Operations.
