How we go beyond

Five decades, one goal

Not surprisingly, the story of North Cariboo Air starts in the North Cariboo region of British Columbia. Williams Lake, to be exact. Originally incorporated as North Cariboo Flying Services in 1957, we’ve been going beyond for our customers for over half a century.

In the beginning, our fleet consisted of a single Aeronca Champ aircraft that could carry one or two passengers to various locations throughout the interior of BC. In fact, you could say we were literally going beyond, because no one else was flying to some of the remote places we were.

Today, we have over 30 aircraft, including the New Generation Q400 aircraft which recently joined the fleet in February 2014. For us, no detail is too small and no passenger request too big. From safety and operational reliability to truly personalized customer service, we look forward to exceeding your expectations.

Our vision

We work tirelessly to be the preferred charter airline in Western Canada. How? Simple. By providing the highest level of safety and customer service.

Our mission

We have so much to achieve, we couldn’t get this down to one statement. So we wrote three:

  • We’re committed to the safety of our customers, employees, property and the environment. To that end we comply, and even go beyond, all applicable laws and apply industry best practices.
  • We empower our employees through open communication, continuous training and accountability at all levels.
  • We give customers outstanding service at competitive rates.

Safety first; our number one priority

At North Cariboo, we're committed to maintaining a safe, healthy and sustainable working environment wherever we operate-for our clients, staff, partners and contractors. Our employees strive to meet or exceed all flight, occupational, and environmental health and safety standards. And our management group & employees consider safety the number one priority. That's why we created a stringent in-house Safety Management System, helping us to ensure that a safe, hazard-free environment prevails throughout all areas of operation.

North Cariboo Air proudly maintains an exemplary safety record. Our Flight and Cabin Crews are trained to the highest standards, often exceeding the stringent requirements of Transport Canada. Our Engineers go over every plane in excruciating detail. Then they do it again.

And our Pilots are ready to deal with any situation. In fact, they utilize the latest in full motion simulator technology facilitated by our excellent relationship with Flight Safety International and Swiss Aviation in Zurich, Switzerland.

Our logo may be gold, but deep down we’re green

From up in the air, it’s hard not to appreciate the beauty of our planet. And we know our customers feel the same way. That’s why we do all we can to protect it.

Things like on-board recycling, in-house green programs and the use of more fuel-efficient aircraft, all help us reduce our environmental impact.

Of course, there’s always more to be done and we’re constantly exploring innovative solutions to take better care of this world we call home.

We also help communities take off

The communities where we operate are also the communities where we live. So we feel pretty strongly about giving back to these places through our Cariboo Cares Foundation. Some of the charities and events we support include the Ride to Conquer Cancer, Kids Cancer Care, the Missing Children Foundation, the Salvation Army, the Northern Addictions Rehabilitation Centre and Movember. We also support amateur sport in our communities, and maintain professional alliances with the Air Transportation Association of Canada, the Northern Air Transportation Association, and other professional organizations.
